"Martha Shedd, project manager with Building Associates Inc., said when she recently asked a subcontractor to donate his time for this year’s Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County Builders Blitz, she knew she was asking a lot. “Times have been tough for builders in this economy, and this guy does not make much money,” Shedd said. “But he looked me in the eye and said, ‘I can’t write a check to help, but what I can do is volunteer my time.’” Shedd said that spirit is the driving force behind the biennial build, which this year will involve nine professional builders who will build four homes today through June 25. "
